For 70 years, we have been creating timeless furniture from solid wood. We love that it evolves with the years as it carries the marks of life that happens to it. As it stands the test of time and ages incredibly well, we believe wood is what makes our furniture solid and the dependable foundation of a home.
Established in 1949, House of Furniture, better known as the New Wimalasiri Furniture was the brainchild of Don Ramachandra Gamalath, father of the Gamalath Brothers. Our story began at importing cane furniture and other interior accessories and retailing them at our one story tiny shop at the same location. What started off as an experiment is what brought us to where we are today. It is now led by the youngest Gamalath brother and a few of his siblings. From its origins as a trusted name in the furniture industry, House of Furniture has over the years infused innovative and modern ideas to transform itself into a state of the art furniture manufacturing and sourcing company.
Our furniture originates from rational ideas but has a distinctly emotional quality. Our designs are always functional, and we want our furniture to generate emotion through authentic, warm and natural materials. While our facilities incorporate traditional handcrafting abilities, we possess the capacity and proven experience to handle hospitality, residential and commercial furnishing projects.
